Wood

To celebrate the 5th birthday of my stockists and friends No Guts No Glory I was asked to create a piece representing the symbol Wood for their event #FiveAlive featuring the five Chinese symbols illustrated by 5 different illustrators.

I wanted to create something that was strong but sweet and full of wonder. Self contained to stand as a symbol. Inside the perfect circle lies the tree trunk with all it's rings accumulated over its many years of growing. On it sleeping the young fawn, protected by the beautiful old wood around it and both alive and growing inside the the circle of life.
